What is a whipped cream dispenser?

A whipped cream dispenser is a metal (aluminum or steel) based 1-liter container used to whip cream. The dispenser holds the cream and provides space for the reaction of nitrous oxide and cream fat.

The whipped cream dispenser has a flower-shaped nozzle, a lever, and a nitrous oxide injection end. The cream or liquid is released from the dispenser with high pressure when you press the lever. The forceful release of the cream allows the gas to expand and form bubbles. This is how the cream transforms into foam or gives it a more creamy texture.

 

Parts of whipped cream Dispenser

Canister

It is the container that holds the liquid. It also gives the space to carry down the reaction of liquid and gas.

Lever

The lever acts like a valve. When you press it, the mixture will release.

Charge holder

This holds the nitrous oxide canister or bulb and fixes it with the head. The position where the bulb gets fixed contains the piercing pic that ruptures the N2O bulb.

Tip

At the upper side of the dispenser is the flower-shaped tip that releases the mixture of gas and cream.

 

What is a whipped cream charger?

A whip cream chargers are small canisters that contain 8 to 16 grams of nitrous oxide. The nitrous oxide bulb is made of high-grade metals. For instance, aluminum, silver, or stainless steel. Food-grade nitrous oxide is filled inside the canister. The nitrous oxide solubilizes in the liquid and starts forming bubbles.

 

How to use Whipped Charger and Dispenser?

  • Insert the metal cartridge containing nitrous oxide in the charger holder.
  • Screw the holder with the dispenser
  • The dispenser had a pin that ruptures the foil of the cartridge and releases the N2O gas.
  • When you shake the dispenser, the gas mixes with the liquid properly.
  • Pressing the lever releases the liquid with the pressure, and the gas inside the liquid expands.

  • Whipped cream with a high-fat content of around 27 to 36%

First, mix the flavor or sugar in 500ml of cream. Don’t add granular sugar, instead use sugar powder. After forming the mixture, open the lid of the dispenser and pour the prepared liquid into the dispenser. Fill the dispenser till the marked line. Overfilling of dispensers results in the formation of poorly developed foam.

 

Loading the N2O Charger

Remove the charger holder from the dispenser and insert the whipped cream cartridge in the holder. Screw the holder and the nitrous oxide canister with the head of the dispenser.

The dispenser head has a piercing pin that ruptures the foil of the nitrous oxide cream charger. It releases the N2O gas inside the dispenser. You will hear a whooshing sound when the gas starts rushing into the dispenser.

 

Shake…

After tightening the canister with the dispenser, shake it for 30 seconds to 1 minute. You will feel the dispenser’s temperature decrease. This shows the gas is mixed with the liquid.

Now press the lever to release the whipped cream to make the delicious cake, pies, donuts, ice cream, or creamy coffee.

 

How to Clean Whipped Cream Dispenser?

You can not clean the assembled whipped cream dispenser in the dishwasher. It is recommended to wash the dispenser with your hands. For washing, you need to disassemble all the parts.

  • First, you need to remove the tip.
  • Then remove the charge holder.
  • Unscrew the head from the container. This time you will see a rubber seal. Remove the rubber too.
  • Now you can put the container in the dishwasher but wash all the operational parts separately by hand, using soap and water.
  • Dry all the parts and reassemble them.

Before making whipped cream, make sure that the whole assembly is completely dried.

Using an N2O cream charger to make whipped cream offers several benefits few of which are listed here:
