Basil Lemon Moonshine Drink Recipe - Both Alcoholic and Non alcoholic versions.

Ingredients
  • 1/4 Cup of Sugar
  • 6 Fresh Basil Leaves
  • 3 Tablespoons of Water
  • 3 Cups of Shredded Fresh Basil
  • 2 (2- x 1-inch) Lemon Peel Strips
  • 2 (2- x 1-inch) Lemon Peel Strips
  • 1 (750-milliliter) Bottle of Moonshine (Ex. Ole Smoky Original Tennessee Moonshine)
Instructions
  1. In a saucepan cook water and sugar over medium heat.
  2. Stir often for 5 minutes or until sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. Let cool for 10 minutes and stir in 2 lemon peel strips, moonshine, and shredded basil.
  4. Pour mix into a large glass jar and seal with a lid.
  5. Let chill for 24 hours to two weeks.
  6. Strain into a bowl making sure to discard any solids.
  7. Return to jar and add two lemon peel strips and basil leaves.
  8. Place in refrigerator for up to 2 months.

Fresh Basil Lemonade
Serves 2

Ingredients:

1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
2 cups water
3 tablespoons of Honey [or  pure maple syrup]
1 tablespoon fresh minced basil

Directions:

This drink is very easy to prepare. Simply combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until the basil is completely broken down. Do NOT strain! Just go for it.

Alternatively, you could just shake the ingredients together and allow the flavors to meld in the fridge for an hour or so, then strain before serving. Pour over ice and serve immediately.
